Capturing photos, forms and defects on site

The Capture button adds a field record while the details are fresh — photos, inspections, defects and job updates.

Everything you record on site goes through Capture — the raised camera button in the middle of the bottom bar, and the Capture action on any shift or assignment card.
What you can capture
The launcher offers four kinds of record:
  • Form or inspection"Complete required field checks."
  • Photo or file"Add evidence to this record."
  • Defect or issue"Report something needing action."
  • Job update"Add a note to the job history."
Every capture saves to a record — usually the job behind your assignment. If you open Capture from a shift card, the job is already chosen (you'll see it under SAVING TO). If you open it from the tab bar, pick one of your assignments first — the launcher shows CONTEXT REQUIRED until you do.
Photos and files (evidence)
Choose Photo or file, then Take a photo, Choose a photo or Choose a file. The file uploads to the job's evidence, and you'll see "Evidence added to {job}." Files are limited to 25 MB each.
Forms and inspections
Choose Form or inspection and Maliru shows the active forms that apply to this record — if only one applies, it opens straight away. Fill it in top to bottom: text, numbers, choices, photos, video, audio answers, signatures and more. Photo fields show how many you've attached; some fields insist on the camera so the picture is taken on site.
Two things happen quietly to protect your work:
  • Drafts save automatically as you type — close the form and come back later and your answers are still there (kept for 14 days per job).
  • Location stamping — some fields record where you were when you answered, and location-type fields have their own Capture button showing the fix and its accuracy. If location is off you'll see "Location services are off." or "Location permission was denied."
Tap Submit when done. If you have no signal, the report is kept on your phone and sent automatically when you're back in coverage — see Working with no signal.
Defects and job updates
  • Defect or issue raises a defect against the record so the office can action it.
  • Job update adds a note to the job history — a quick "What happened?" box, then Add update.
Tip: capture on site, not at the depot. Photos, forms and location stamps are worth far more taken at the moment — and drafts + offline sending mean poor signal is never a reason to wait.
