Jobs, workstreams and statuses

Workstreams are your job types — each with its own fields, statuses and saved views.

Jobs are the core operational record in Maliru — everything else (shifts, forms, evidence, defects, authorisations) attaches to them.
Workstreams: your job types
As the app puts it: "Workstreams are your job types. Each has its own fields, statuses and saved views, so unrelated kinds of work stop sharing one table." Every job belongs to exactly one workstream, and each workstream appears as a tab above the table with its live job count. An All tab shows everything together.
To manage them, use the Manage workstreams button by the tabs. When adding one you choose:
  • A name and a colour.
  • A Type: Standard — one job per record, or Route — jobs carry a route breakdown. Pick carefully: the type is permanent once created.
  • A starting status set — the defaults, or copied from another workstream.
Workstreams can be reordered, renamed, archived and (when empty) deleted. A workstream that still has jobs can't be deleted — move them first, or archive it instead.
Route workstreams unlock route features: the Import button becomes Import routes, jobs carry route lines, and the Schedule can allocate whole routes to workers (see Routes: give a whole route to one worker).
Statuses: your pipeline, per workstream
Open the Statuses chip to edit the workstream's pipeline. "Your job states. Category tells the app what a status means (open jobs count, ordering); colour and name are yours."
Every status has:
  • A name and colour — entirely yours (e.g. To be Mounted, Spanned).
  • A category — one of Open, In progress, On hold, Done, Cancelled. The category is what the app understands: it drives open-job counts, route progress bars and report colour-coding.
New workstreams start with six defaults: To Do, Planned, In progress, On hold, Completed, Cancelled. You can have up to 40 statuses; keep at least one. Importing a spreadsheet automatically creates any status your sheet introduces.
Reading the table
The table shows Title, Client, State, Scheduled, Team and your custom columns. Click a column header to sort; drag its edge to resize (double-click resets). Group rows by State, Client or Workstream — and drag a job onto another state's group header to move it there.
Filters, quick filters, multi-column sorts and search can be captured as a personal saved view per workstream. Note: the All tab is a simple combined list — saved views, custom columns and the Statuses chip live on the individual workstream tabs.
Tip: the "Title" column can be renamed per workstream (e.g. Permit ref) — use Rename column on its header, or set it in the workstream's settings.
