Leave and time off
Request leave, see your balances, and — as an admin — manage types, entitlements and the team calendar.

Timesheets → Leave is where time off is requested, tracked and approved.
Requesting leave
Request leave captures the leave type, a date range, and — for precision — the day part for the first and last day (Full day, Morning, Afternoon). A live estimate shows how much it uses and your balance after pending. Balance-deducting leave is blocked if you don't have enough; everything else just records.
Contractors' leave is recorded as unpaid — Maliru notes this on the request.
Your My absences list shows what you've booked; you can Cancel a request or approved future leave.
Approving (managers)
With the Manage leave permission, Pending requests lists what's waiting — approve or decline each (the worker is notified). A Team calendar shows everyone's absences and public holidays month by month, and Log for worker records leave directly on someone's behalf, with an option to override balance and overlap checks.
Setting it up (leave admin)
Under leave admin:
- Leave types — name them, set a colour, and toggle Paid, Requires approval and Deducts balance (e.g. Holiday deducts and needs approval; Sick might not deduct). The seeded types are Holiday, Sick leave, Unpaid leave, Time off in lieu and Other.
- Entitlements — set each person's entitled days per year plus any carried-over and adjustments.
- Pro-rata calculator — work out a part-timer's entitlement from their working pattern, or by the 12.07% accrual method.
- Public holidays — add your year's holidays so they're excluded from leave and highlighted on the calendar.
Tip: get your leave types right first — whether a type is paid, needs approval and deducts balance is what makes every request behave correctly afterwards.
