My report didn't send
What "Saved on this device" really means, how queued reports send themselves, and the rare ways one can go missing.

"Saved on this device. It will send when you are back online."
That message is a success. Your report — answers, photos, location stamps — is stored safely on the phone because there was no usable connection at submit time.
You don't need to do anything. The moment the phone regains any connection, queued reports send automatically. They also retry when you open or return to the app. Each report sends exactly once — retries can never file a duplicate.
The office can't see it yet — checklist
- Has the phone had real signal since? A bar of GPRS in a duct isn't a working connection. The queue sends when a connection actually works — walking back into coverage or onto Wi-Fi normally does it within moments.
- Open the app — opening or returning to Maliru nudges the queue immediately.
- Reports send in order — if an older queued report is having trouble, the ones behind it wait. Getting into good signal and opening the app clears the backlog together.
- Check the Submissions tab (office) — search by the form and the day; the submission time is when it was filed, which may be later than when it was filled in.
Ways a report can genuinely be lost
Rare, but honest:
- The app was deleted while reports were queued — the queue lives on the phone.
- The server rejected the report — e.g. the form was retired or a required answer was missing in a way the phone couldn't know. A rejected report is dropped so it can't jam the queue behind it. If a report you're sure was queued never arrives, this is the likeliest cause — re-submit it, and tell support the form and rough time so we can check.
- A held photo was cleaned up by the phone's storage manager before sending — the report still files, minus that photo.
Drafts vs queued reports
Two different protections:
- A draft is a form you haven't submitted — it reopens where you left off (kept 14 days per record).
- A queued report is one you did submit, waiting for signal.
If you closed a half-finished form, it's a draft — open the form on the same record and your answers are still there.
Habit worth building: end the day in signal with the app open for a minute — you'll see your queue drain and can check the office side got everything.
